Valtteri Bottas opens up about his mental struggles in Formula One
Formula One is the pinnacle of motorsports, demanding almost everything from a driver. Naturally, it can take a toll on the drivers, and Bottas talks about the effect it had on his mentality.
As quoted by Italehti. Fi Bottas said, “An ex-girlfriend (correction: Ex-wife) (Emilia) told me I hope the flight goes well. I said something that if it falls, then what? Then I’ll just get out of here. Something like these thoughts started to come out that nothing matters.” (Translated from Finnish via Google)
A new challenge awaits the Finnish driver in 2022
As the season comes to an end, Bottas would part ways with the Silver Arrows. Joining the team back in 2017, Valtteri will make way for incoming driver, George Russell. Bottas would go to Alfa Romeo and partner up with Guanyu Zhou next season.
However, there are still two more races to go before the season comes to a close. Bottas and Hamilton would work together and aim to bag as many points as possible from the upcoming races to defeat Red Bull and claim their eighth consecutive constructors’ championship in Formula One.
