Lewis Hamilton suffered a painful defeat in the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi when he let Max Verstappen go ahead. It is reported that the Briton doubts whether he wants to continue in Formula 1 next season, but according to Helmut Marko there is no misunderstanding.

The Red Bull Racing advisor was not always positive about Hamilton last season, but in the interview with German Sport1.de he shows respect for the Mercedes driver. Because of the high level of performance Hamilton has shown this season, Marko cannot imagine that Hamilton would stop racing

“Lewis will do everything to win the eighth title,” Marko states confidently. This is how the former Formula 1 driver saw Hamilton battle it out with Verstappen this season. “He is still far too good to stop. He was able to deal with defeat before and can do so now.”

Hamilton’s future still uncertain

Although Toto Wolff revealed to the media that Hamilton may be quitting with immediate effect, the British driver still did not let on about his future. The seven times world champion has a contract with Mercedes that runs for two more seasons. The intention is that he will continue with the German team together with George Russell.
