Jason Statham has given fans a sneak peek at a reliably intense fight scene in a brand new Instagram video from the Expendables 4 set.
The actor, who is renowned for his high-octane roles in action movies, shared a look behind-the-scenes on the new movie, with the video showing him rehearsing for a violent looking combat scene featuring multiple knives and quite a bit of elbowing.
Thankfully, Statham seemed to be very relaxed while out of character, smiling and joking with the cast and crew and making suggestions about how to play the scene.
Fans reacted to the sneak peek video with excitement, with one commenting “waiting for it desperately” and another writing “bloody luv the expendables [sic]”.
Statham has played blades specialist Lee Christmas in the Expendables franchise since the first movie in 2010 and will clearly be very much back in action for the fourth instalment.
He will be joined by fellow returning stars Sylvester Stallone as Barney Ross, Dolph Lundgren as Gunner Jensen and Randy Couture as Toll Road.
There will also be some new faces joining the cast, including Transformers star Megan Fox, Power’s 50 Cent, Furious 7 actor Tony Jaa and Star Wars’ Iko Uwais, whose exact roles have not yet been disclosed – although we do know that Uwais is playing a dangerous villain.
Although exact plot details are still under wraps, Lionsgate’s Jason Constantine has teased that we can expect a “no-holds-barred action film” that will “raise the stakes and be the biggest, most badass adventure yet”.
Leading star Stallone recently confirmed that The Expendables 4 will be his last outing as Barney, revealing that Statham will lead any future instalments in the franchise.
“It’s time to be moving on,” he said. “This will be my last day, so I’m enjoying it but it’s always bittersweet, you know.”
