The Irishman has made a fortune with his Irish Whiskey brand.
It is no surprise that Conor McGregor is keen on constantly building up his net worth after he rose to prominence in the UFC and put the sport on the map.
McGregor does not shy away from making the headlines, and his rise to fame could be characterised by him forcing his way into the mainstream media.
In recent years, however, the Notorious has turned his attention away from fighting and put a lot of work into his external projects, and it would seem that they have paid dividends.
Conor McGregor’s net worth
As per Celebrity Net Worth, McGregor currently has a net worth value of 170 million euros.
The Irishman was also recently listed as the wealthiest sportsman in 2021 by Forbes, ahead of both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
How much did McGregor make from his Proper 12 brand?
Despite making a name for himself in the UFC, it would appear that McGregor’s main source of income came from his Proper 12 Irish Whiskey brand, which was launched in 2018.
During the summer, it was announced that Mexican tequila company Becle would be launching a takeover of McGregor’s famous brand, which earnt the star an incredible 131 million euros.
McGregor vs Ronaldo
Despite McGregor now being sat comfortably atop the Forbes highest earning athlete list for 2021, the scenario wasn’t the same five years ago.
In 2016, while preparing for his rematch fight against Nate Diaz, Cristiano Ronaldo visited McGregor at his gym and the pair exchanged some words about who would be the richest in years to come.
“You were number one on the Forbes list. I was like number 35 or something. I’ll get up. Maybe next year I’ll get you,” McGregor told the Manchester United star.
“I don’t think so,” Ronaldo replied.
Five years later, McGregor can finally sit back and smile.
