Charles Leclerc has tested positive for COVID-19 after returning home from the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Ferrari confirmed that the Monegasque is self-isolating at home, and is currently only experiencing mild symptoms.

“Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow driver Charles Leclerc has tested positive for COVID-19,” the team wrote in a statement on social media.

“In accordance with protocols required by FIA and the team, Charles was tested on his return from Abu Dhabi.

“He is currently feeling fine, with mild symptoms and will self-isolate at home.”

This is the second time that Leclerc has tested positive for the virus, having previously returned a positive test in January ahead of the 2021 season.

Leclerc is not the only driver to have contracted coronavirus this year. Kimi Raikkonen was forced to miss two Grands Prix after testing positive for COVID-19 in September.
