There has been speculation Anthony Joshua could step aside to allow Tyson Fury to face Oleksandr Usyk before then fighting the Gypsy King himself.

Anthony Joshua has been told that he will lose to both Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury if faces both next year.

Joshua is set to take on Usyk in a rematch 2022 after being defeated by the Ukrainian in September, giving up his belts.

The Brit was simply out-boxed by Usyk, who was able to stay in the pocket and avoided Joshua’s big punch attempts throughout the fight – slipping and sliding whilst landing blows in return.

The fight ended any hopes of a unification fight with Tyson Fury – in what would have been the biggest all-British heavyweight boxing bout of all-time.

While Joshua could look to face Fury in 2022 should he defeat Usyk, he has been told that he’d lose that contest by talkSPORT pundit and keen boxing fan Simon Jordan.

Jordan said: “As a fighting man, he has got to fight Usyk. He’s got to right that wrong and win back the belts that he handed over to Usyk.

“As a commercial man, he is in a very difficult bind because he is going to get beat by Usyk again, and even if he steps aside to let Usyk fight Fury on the chance he gets to fight Fury after Fury deposes Usyk, he is going to get beat by Fury.

“So he is in a challenging position, Joshua, because commercially-speaking, does he wait to get paid for the Joshua vs Fury fight and take a big bag of money? Does he take step aside money now and lose all credibility?

“Or does he fight Usyk again and lose again and then be a finished article?

“I think, if he is sensible for himself, he takes the step aside money and gets to fight Fury.”

Speculation of Joshua stepping aside for Fury to fight Usyk was squashed by AJ’s camp, who completely shut down the reported £40million offer once promoter Eddie Hearn presented him with the opportunity.

Joshua now looks set to fight Usyk in March or April, with Fury looking for an opponent around the same time.
